On September 28, Reuters quoted the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff as saying: North Korea has fired two short-range ballistic missiles from North Korea's east coast into the East Sea. It happened just a day before US Vice President Kamala Harris. He will visit South Korea on Thursday, September 29, with a visit to the demilitarized zone that divides the two Koreas.
Japan's Coast Guard also confirmed that a suspected ballistic missile was tested.
North Korea's test launch of the missile comes two days after the South Korean and US military began joint military exercises off the east coast of South Korea attended by a US aircraft carrier. And on Sunday (Sept. 25), North Korea had just tested a ballistic missile into the East Sea.
The AFP news agency also reported North Korea's latest missile test. It said it was part of North Korea's testing of blitz weapons this year. And it comes after South Korean spy warns that North Korea is preparing to conduct another nuclear test.
By Mr. Yoo Sangbam, Member of Parliament for South Korea told reporters from the South Korean National Intelligence Agency that North Korea appears to be nearing completion of a third tunnel at the Pungeri Nuclear Test Plant.
